Why Kyle and Jackie O’s Show Suddenly Ended

There's been a bombshell in the entertainment world as Australia's biggest radio duo have broken up. If your parents have the radio on in the car on the way to school, there's a chance you may have heard of them. They've been on the airwaves together for 25 years and have had some pretty big people on their show. But almost two weeks ago, the pair got in a pretty serious clash on air. Jackie was discussing astrology, and Kyle accused her of being "unfocused". The whole argument was broadcasted live and got pretty heated, which led to Jackie stepping away. Some thought the whole thing was just a publicity stunt, but last night the pair's employer dropped a statement saying that Jackie could no longer work with Kyle, and that effective immediately, the show was over. It brings a dramatic and, sudden end to the $200 million deal they signed in 2023, the biggest deal in Aussie radio history, and was meant to keep them on air until 2034. While the show had its fair share of fans, it had also been plagued by quite a few controversies that drew complaints from listeners. For now, the station has suspended Kyle over what it's calling "serious misconduct", and have offered Jackie the opportunity to host a different show. So as for what's next, we'll need to keep our ears peeled.

DUBAI FLIGHT
Some Aussies have hopped on the first flight home since the US and Israel's attack on Iran put a pause on international flights. Travellers have been stuck overseas after their flights were cancelled when conflict erupted in the Middle East, closing airspaces across the region! The government estimates there are up to 115,000 Australians in the Middle East, which includes people who live there and those just travelling through! Today, the first flight from the United Arab Emirates to Sydney was given the all clear to take off and bring some Aussies home.

HOLI
Millions of people around the world are celebrating Holi, the annual Hindu festival of colour. Music, dancing, and lots and lots of powder. You can see why Holi is called the festival of colours. Holi is a Hindu festival that takes place on the full moon day of the Hindu Lunar Calender month Phalguna, which usually falls sometime in March! It also marks the start of spring over in the Indian Subcontinent, where Hindiusm has its orgins! On the eve before Holi, some places light bonfires to symbolise the victory of good over evil, which is rooted in the legend of Prahlad and Holika. Then on the next day, the festivities begin! That powder is called Gulal, and it's traditionally made from flowers and herbs, and coloured with natural dyes from things like fruits and veggies! During Holi, everyone is equal regardless of caste, gender and age, meaning everyone can take part in the celebrations!

BLOOD MOON 
First up, to last night's blood moon! Which was seen around the world as the sun, earth and moon all lined up. Earth's shadow completely covered the moon, leaving it glowing a faint red colour. Which is caused by a small amount of sunlight filtering through the earth's atmosphere, and hitting the moon.

PET CALLS
Now to a new device being demoed at the Mobile World Congress in Spain: a mobile phone for pets! Which they can activate by jumping up and down three times, as so demonstrated by this man here. This event is the largest mobile exhibition in the world, where tech companies come to show off what they reckon is the future of mobile technology.

SHAKIRA CONCERT
And finally, to a record-breaking concert in Mexico. Pop star Shakira performed in front of almost 400,000 people at a free event, which is the biggest attendance of any single live concert in Mexico City history.
