0:00 - To turn off the ebike, simply long-press the lock button.
To turn it back on, you’ll need to double-click the power button.
However, I should point out that the double-click function can be a bit hit-or-miss. As you can see in the video, sometimes it doesn’t register right away.
0:20 - Once you’ve locked the e-bike with the remote, there are two types of alarms that can be triggered:
Light impact → triggers a short burst alarm that lasts a few seconds. This is usually just enough to scare off animals, like cats jumping onto the seat.
Harsh knock or strong movement → triggers the continuous alarm, which won’t stop until you unlock the e-bike with the remote.
0:58 - If you try to start the ebike without unlocking it first, the alarm will also be triggered. So always remember to unlock it with the remote before turning the key.
1:13 - Battery Holder & Connector Opening
1:23 - Fog Light Demonstration
For this part, I had to use the ultra-wide camera to give you a more realistic idea of how the fog light performs at night.
The bad news is, it’s not bright enough to safely navigate in the dark. Turning the key twice doesn’t make it glow any brighter, which is why I’m calling it more of a fog light rather than a proper headlight.
Another downside is that the light shines straight forward instead of slightly downward, like you’d normally see on a motorcycle or bicycle. This can cause glare for people in front of you. I also wish it came with a low beam and high beam option, which would make night riding a lot safer.
2:47 - Signal lights demonstration.
3:17 - On the LEM MA and a few other ebikes I’ve seen, the battery percentage reading is only slightly more accurate when you twist the throttle. When the bike is idle, the reading can look higher than it really is, so keep that in mind when checking your battery level.
3:28 - Physical Rear Tire Lock
The LEM MA comes with a manual rear tire lock to boost security. You’ll need the battery access key to lock/unlock it.
On the other hand, some e-bike models, like those from AZEbike take things a step further. Their system can automatically lock the tire once the alarm is triggered, giving you an added layer of protection.
4:00 - Clanking Issue and Fixes
When I first got the LEM MA, the rear tire made two types of noises, which you can hear in this chapter.
The first noise only happened once and never came back. The second noise occurred occasionally, but it became less frequent each time I applied machine oil to both sides of the tire.
So far, regular oiling seems to reduce the issue, though I’m still monitoring it.
6:12 - Remote Issue
The LEM MA comes with two remotes, but one of them isn’t syncing with the ebike. I noticed this within the first few days of ownership, so I contacted LEM Malaysia’s customer service. Surprisingly, they offered to exchange the entire ebike just over a remote problem. I decided to reject their offer, but I’ll share more details about this in my LEM MA Detailed Review, which I plan to release in September or October depending on my free time.
Brake Screeching Issue
Another issue worth mentioning is with the rear drum brake. When I brake abruptly or apply maximum force, the rear brake produces a loud screeching noise. I didn’t bother editing this clip into the video, but you can find plenty of examples in my LEM MA Terrain Test.
