After our visit to Sambranikoodi, we went straight to Poovar. Our stay was at Estuary Sarovar Portico Resort at Poovar, which by the way was completely booked because of the holidays.
Poovar is one of those places well known for its beautiful beach, stunning backwater rides through the mangroves, amazing stays (of course we recommend Estuary for a good stay but the buffet could get better), and the Gogo park adventure park. It is a all-in-one package to spend a day or two and relax.
The golden sand beach in Poovar is known for its beautiful sunset and the rare view of a river meeting the ocean. It used to be open for a quick dive but is now closed due to recent safety issues. The ride through the mangroves was a relaxing way to spend some good time with the family.
Finally, the stay. Estuary was amazing. Great view, super clean, relaxing spa and, the best of all, Amazing hospitality. Except the breakfast buffet, everything about this stay is superb.
So, if you are planning for a day trip, make sure to add Poovar to your list.
