Joshua A. Urban, M.D.

Описание: A board certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Urban has been a member of OrthoWest since 2004. As a son of a physician in the Army Medical Corps, he spent his childhood in West Germany, West Berlin, and several stateside locales. After Army life, his family settled in central Nebraska where he attended high school in Kearney, Nebraska. He went to Cornell College and graduated with majors in History and Religion with an additional emphasis in Biochemistry. He attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and graduated with distinction before completing an internship and orthopaedic residency at the combined Creighton-Nebraska Universities Health Foundation.

During residency he spent an additional year of training focusing on the research of total hip and knee replacements with an emphasis on alternative bearing surfaces and infections of hip and knee replacements. After residency he spent another year of subspecialized training, a fellowship, at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Alexandria, Virginia where he received additional training in hip and knee replacements by world renowned joint replacement surgeons Charles Engh, Gerry Engh, C. Anderson Engh, and James McAuley.

Dr Urban specializes in the diagnosis, non-operative management, and surgical treatment of hip and knee arthritis. His practice also focuses on the treatment of failed hip and knee replacements, infected hip and knee replacements, peri-prosthetic fractures, and revision hip and knee replacements. Additional interests include trauma, sports injuries, and general orthopaedics. In addition to his affiliation with the Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital, he has served as Orthopaedic Service Chief at the Nebraska Medical Center and has maintained a wound care clinic there as well. Dr. Urban has written numerous abstracts, articles, presentations and book chapters on a variety of topics related to hip and knee replacements. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, the Nebraska Medical Association, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Engh Society for fellows of the Anderson Orthopaedic Institute.
