In this episode, I head out to see if there are still any fish hanging around the metro area. The conditions are far from ideal — it’s a rough and rocky session!
I strapped a GoPro to my burley pot to get a glimpse of what’s happening beneath the surface, and what I found was pretty confronting.
Despite that, the fishing itself really surprised me, with some nice, healthy whiting hitting the deck. Today’s mission was purely catch and release, as I mainly wanted to see how the area is faring while dealing with this ongoing algal bloom.
It was great to see the whiting making a return — it gives us hope that the fishery will bounce back.
