Disturbing images and testimonies are emerging from Iran amid a sweeping crackdown on nationwide anti-establishment protests. Footage posted on social media on January 12 shows dozens of bodies lying in Kahrizak, a town near Tehran, raising fresh concerns over the scale of violence being used by state forces.
In a chilling account, a doctor inside Iran has told RFE/RL’s Radio Farda that security forces allegedly stormed hospitals and executed wounded protesters who had been admitted for medical treatment. Speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation, the doctor said security personnel had “finished off” demonstrators inside hospital wards.
