Back of Beyond Paddle Board Race Recap - 2024

Well, I did sign up and here's how it went.

The Back of Beyond Paddle Races are a two day event with a 7-mile downriver "flatwater" race through the picturesque Postcard Alley canyon of the Colorado River just outside of Moab, UT.

Once you've battled the competition (and the elements) of Saturday's race, Back of Beyond continues on Sunday with a whitewater slalom / boater-cross race through Rocky Rapid. Navigate buoy turns, other paddlers, and of course the waves and holes of the rapid itself through multiple heats to claim the podium.

At the end of the day on Saturday I took 3rd place in the Men's Elite flatwater race and 3rd place overall. I didn't place in the whitewater race, but still had a great time.

This was an amazingly fun event, and I can't wait until next year.
