Every year we do a sailing trip to Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California on our Hobie Cat 16's. We leave from the Port of Long Beach and sail to Rippers Cove which is a boat in camping area that is only accessible via boat. During the low tide of the month, there is a beach where we pull the Hobie's up onto the sand. This year we took three days and sailed over on a Friday, did some hiking, snorkeling, and spearfishing on Saturday and sailed back on Sunday. The sail over was calm and took roughly four hours, as the winds were 5-10 knots and it's a windward sail going to Catalina. The sail back was much more eventful, taking only two hours, with the combination of a faster point of sail and the winds being 10-15 knots.
