Thanks for checking out the first part of my 2020 Arizona Trail Southbound Thru-Hike. I arrived at the Utah border and to my surprise, the trail was open. The first ten miles had been closed for a while due to a fire. Right away the hike started on a great note! We hiked across the Kaibab Plateau for the first few days through fairly easy terrain. Not too much up and down but a lot of exposed sections and it was still fairly hot in late September. We hiked through miles of beautiful Aspen trees that were on full Fall color display. Had several really great campsites on the way and one over 9000 ft. We made it to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon at the end of day 5 and got a great campsite with a beautiful view.
