I often get asked by people starting out with Messer about what fight book they should study, and the answer might actually not be what you expect. Unfortunately, starting with fight books might be counterproductive, as you need a pretty solid base line of fencing skill to make sense of them. The video was originally prompted by this explanation of the problem: • HEMA interpretations can make your fencing... I felt I could add something about what to keep in mind when you do get to the point where you have solid enough fundamentals to work with interpretations of fight books.
