So what is E20? It’s petrol blended with 20% ethanol, made mainly from sugarcane. The government pushes it to support farmers, cut oil imports, and meet green energy targets. What should you do? First, check your car’s owner manual. Many manufacturers have now listed E20 compatibility. If your vehicle is older, consider sticking to pumps that still offer E10 if you can find them, or get your fuel system checked regularly. Watch for symptoms like poor acceleration, higher consumption, or unusual smells.

This issue affects crores of Indian vehicle owners. While supporting farmers and reducing imports are valid goals, transparency and choice shouldn’t be sacrificed. Drivers deserve to know what they’re putting in their tanks.
