Meteorological experts had already issued a weather alert predicting heavy rain in Karachi, but despite the warnings, no effective preparations were visible on the ground. Sewerage lines overflowed, manholes remained open, and underpasses were filled with water, highlighting the poor urban management of Pakistan’s largest metropolitan city.

While many citizens welcomed the rain as a refreshing break from the scorching summer heat, the happiness was short-lived as the city drowned in its usual problems. Social media was flooded with videos and pictures showing the current state of Karachi, with hashtags like #KarachiRain and #KarachiWeather trending online.

Rain is considered a blessing, but for Karachi residents, it often turns into a test of patience and endurance. Instead of enjoying the cool breeze and beautiful weather, citizens are left worrying about electricity breakdowns, water entering their houses, and hours wasted on flooded roads.
