Banda Islands are part of Maluku region of Indonesia. These volcanic islands gained immense importance during 17th century, as the spice trade grew quickly as spices like Nutmeg grew only on selected of these islands. One of the Banda islands called Run was in fact exchanged by British with Dutch for Manhattan, which was later named as New York.
These are beautiful islands with white sandy beaches, offering world class diving. Raja Ampat islands usually get all the lime light on diving, but Banda would offer no less on excitement.
