How to Archive (Hide) a Chat:

Open Instagram and go to your Direct Messages (DM) inbox.

Swipe left on the chat you want to hide (on Android).

Tap the "Archive" icon (it looks like a box with a downward arrow).

Alternatively, you can open the chat, tap the person's name at the top, and scroll down to find the "Archive" option.

How to Find Archived Chats:

In your main DM inbox, tap the search bar at the top.

You will see an option for "Archived" – tap it!

Here, you’ll find all your hidden chats.

How to Unarchive a Chat:

Go to your "Archived" folder.

Swipe left on the chat and tap "Unarchive".

The chat will immediately return to your main inbox.

Important Notes:

Archiving a chat is private – the other person will NOT be notified.

If the person messages you again, the chat will automatically unarchive and reappear in your main inbox (unless you use "Ignore").

This is perfect for hiding old conversations, exes, or group chats without losing the message history.
