Taiwan has placed its military forces on alert and deployed fighters in response to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) encirclement of the island. At least 14 PLA warships have been detected around Taiwan. According to retired U.S. Marine Colonel Grant Newsham, the political climate in Washington is a key indicator for the CCP's decision to invade the island or not.
