"All" guys making bead sprites are using Perler Beads or Hama Midi beads. Perler has only one size of beads, that is same size than Hamas Midi beads. There are also much smaller beads, Hamas Mini beads. Check out this video and see the difference in Perler/Hama Midis compared to Hama Mini beads.
One "great" thing is that cause sprites made of Hama Minis are so thin, you can make sprites that have "both sides", when you glue two sprites together. In future you are gonna see atleast a Megaman sprite made like that. I mean when you flip the sprite over, you are not gonna see another face of Megaman, but a backside of his head, etc.
