Walking in Norfolk - We're going on a Fungi hunt! NWT Foxley Wood Nature Reserve Walk.

Описание: A return visit to one of our favourite Nature Reserves, Foxley Wood. I've been visiting here for many years now, and it's always a pleasure to just take a slow walk through the woods. Today, we made a purposeful visit to hopefully find some fungi At first we thought we were going to be unlucky until we ventured off the main path and stumbled upon a clearing... we found the fungi! Foxley Wood is a lovely reserve and it's actually Norfolk's largest remaining ancient woodland. All year round, there is something to enjoy such as the carpets of bluebells (although it can get extremely busy so be prepared) and also in Spring and Summer, it's an absolute haven for butterflies, bees and dragonflies. There are three good sized car parks, where on quieter days, you can sit and have a picnic (not on bluebell days though), but there are no amenities. The main pathways are well maintained but you can also take alternative routes through the woodlands - which we did today and found the fungi. This special gem of a woodland will not disappoint.
