Angry protests erupted in Baramulla, Indian-administered Kashmir, on Saturday as demonstrators took to the streets to condemn a devastating suicide bombing that ripped through a Shi'ite mosque in Pakistan's capital just 24 hours earlier. The bombing at the Khadija Tul Kubra Imambargah in Tarlai Kalan, on the outskirts of Islamabad, killed at least 31 people and injured more than 170 during Friday prayers, an attack for which the Islamic State (ISIS) has officially claimed responsibility. In Baramulla, protesters—many belonging to the local Shi'ite community—carried portraits of Iran’s Supreme Leader and chanted anti-Pakistan slogans, accusing the Pakistani government of failing to protect its religious minorities from the "genocide" of sectarian violence.
