B2B LinkedIn Ads Mistakes to Avoid

From companies with spends ranging from $10k to $3M+ a month. They all make these mistakes.

1️⃣ Audience Expansion - NO NO NO.

Stay away at all costs. I’ve tried this too many times, yes CPCs always decrease but that’s bc it’s expanded to people you don’t want to talk to, really no one wants to talk to. Hence the low CPCs.

Uncheck it right now.

2️⃣ Using lookalike audiences - You can now see the companies in a LLA with LinkedIns audience insights, it’s not good. It’s really bad.

3️⃣ Exclusions - Don’t skimp on them. What you exclude is important, LinkedIn isn’t perfect.

At the very least, excluding current customers or competitors is a must.

4️⃣ Using “Or” rather than “And” - This one might be a small mistake but it’s common and can really change your targeting criteria by a lot.

Marketing department AND VP is way different than Marketing department OR VP seniority. One will make you go crazy

5️⃣ Not paying attention to frequency metrics - Ad fatigue is real.

Don’t wave off testing different creative/messaging. Depending on 1 ad won’t be too effective.

Ad fatigue will set in quick and you’ll miss out from all the learnings from your tests.

6️⃣ Not looking at and evaluating the demographics report often. That report is the is a must. It’s amazing for adding exclusions and making sure your getting in front of the right people and companies.
