The luxury vehicle, allegedly driven by Vatsal Dipakbhai Kariya from Rajkot, struck the elderly man who was riding an Activa scooter. The force of the impact was so severe that the man was thrown approximately 20 feet onto the road. CCTV footage captured the moment of the crash, showing the BMW subsequently ramming into a tree with all airbags deployed. The victim, Mukulraj Mohanbhai Mishra, was reportedly on his regular routine of picking up his grandchildren from school and died on the spot.

Eyewitnesses at the scene alleged that Kariya was heavily intoxicated at the time of the crash. Locals who witnessed the incident were outraged and physically confronted Kariya before turning him over to the police. The vehicle, a new BMW without registration plates, had been recently purchased, and Kariya had reportedly applied for a special registration number. Authorities immediately conducted a medical examination to assess whether he was under the influence of alcohol, and charges were filed against him under relevant sections for causing death by negligence and suspected drunk driving.

Despite the serious nature of the accident and public outrage, Vatsal Kariya has been granted bail. The incident has sparked concern and debate around the growing number of accidents involving high-end vehicles and irresponsible driving behavior, especially under the influence of alcohol. The case continues to be under investigation, and it adds to a string of recent similar tragedies in Gujarat that have raised calls for stricter enforcement of traffic and DUI laws.
