When I first heard this theme composed by Trevor Morris for Vikings, I knew I not only wanted to do a mock-up of it, but I also wanted to create an extended orchestration of this theme, which is called "The Vikings Are Told of Ragnar's Death" and was used in Vikings Season 3 Episode 10.
The first few minutes of this track are my recreation of Trevor Morris' original cue. Then I transition into my own extended orchestration. I'll possibly do a video showing how I created this track, but for now I thought it would be fun to assemble some scenes from the Vikings to go with this music.
To create this track, I've made extensive use of Orchestral Tools' Metropolis Ark II, supplemented with Berlin Brass, 8Dio's Adagietto Strings and Spitfire Audio's Albion V Tundra. The choirs in Ark II are absolutely gorgeous and really shine in this track. Another standout patch was the Berlin Brass trumpet vibrato, which really shines at the end of the orchestration.
