Bike Touring the Vineyards of Burgundy, France - A Perfect Weekend Getaway

Описание: Hi guys and welcome back to my channel! Today, I’m excited to take you bike touring around the beautiful vineyards of Burgundy in France. 🍇🚴‍♂️

Our plan was to spend a long weekend cycling through this stunning region, savoring the local food, and, of course, the exquisite wines. Our base camp was a charming countryside home located about 20 km south of Beaune, in the picturesque wine-producing village of Santenay.

*Day 1: Cycling Adventure*

Our first day began with a 40 km loop heading northeast towards Beaune, weaving through quaint villages with names I can barely pronounce, such as Meursault, Pommard, Saint-Romain, and La Rochepot.

**Meursault**: After about 13 km, we reached this charming village with a lovely square and fountain
**Pommard**: Just 5 km from Meursault, Pommard marked the spot where we left away from the vineyards and ventured into the hills and woods. The gravel road through the trees was both thrilling and a bit scary on our city road bikes.
**Saint-Romain**: After a challenging uphill ride, we arrived in Saint-Romain for a well-deserved lunch at Bistrot des Falaises. The set menu was a delightful experience, paired perfectly with local wine. Kudos to the staff!
**La Rochepot**: Post-lunch, we cycled south to La Rochepot. We marveled at the 12th-century Château de La Rochepot, a neo-Gothic-Burgundian castle.

With about 12 km to go, we descended our final downhill and joined an old train track, now a public cycling trail. The gentle gradient was perfect for winding down as we headed back to base camp. Dinner that night was another culinary delight, thanks again to the Michelin Guide app.

*Day 2: Exploring the Canal du Centre*

The next day greeted us with rain, so we opted for a relaxed morning and postponed our full day of cycling to an afternoon session.

**Chagny Sunday Market**: We visited the nearby village of Chagny and its vibrant Sunday market, where we stocked up on local goodies for the rest of our weekend.
**Canal du Centre**: After lunch and a quick change, we embarked on a scenic ride along the Canal du Centre. This 112.1 km canal, opened in 1792, is known for its flat, easy ride and 61 locks. The serene, flat path was a perfect contrast to our previous day’s hilly terrain.

Cycling along the canal felt like cruising down a motorway – smooth, endless, and utterly enjoyable. I could see myself bike camping here, completely content with the peaceful surroundings. Highly recommended!
