I try out the Korua Shapes Transition Finder 160cm in my favourite section of trees: The Andreas Woods!
Yes, yes, I know, it sounds crazy to name a section of woods after yourself- but up until this point, this area of trees really didn't have an official name. Most locals call it "Shooting Gallery", but considering how frequently I lap it, I like the idea of calling dibs.
Maybe its a wild fantasy that some day, long after I'm gone, people will still remember all the days I spent filming here. Either way, its one of my favourite places to thread the needle, and to get technical tree lines. It's also a great spot to test out a board, because I tend to harvest the powder over multiple similar laps.
Anyways, on this particular day, there was about 13 cm of new snow. It really depended on where you were, because some areas yielded less than others...
The first lap under the Peak to Peak was decent, but quite frankly was still very much "dust on crust". I had to over-steer the majority of the time to sluff enough speed to be in control. Even though the snow looked welcoming, it was sitting on a hardened base, that if you weren't careful, could really jangle your bones. Luckily, more snow fell further up the mountain, and getting into the alpine, meant finding deeper powder.
Once Seventh Heaven opened, I proceeded to lap my trusty "Andreas Woods" for the rest of the day. Even though its a pain to get over to them, these low angle trees collect some of the best snow, especially on a day where areas are wind effected.
The Transition Finder was a super versatile tool in the trees. Its tapered shape makes it nice and turnable, whilst its rockered shovel gives it lift and float in the pow. The extra width in this size also gives the board a firmer feel than its smaller size equivalents, so it can carve nice and deep. Over-all it's a great shape for Whistler Blackcomb, and is very versatile for a myriad of conditions.
It had been a while since I had tested this board, and I had never actually tried the 160 length, which is considerably wider than the 157. This comes in handy if you're someone with a bigger boot size. It was also interesting to try out their new "Brushed" top sheet, which is supposed to be lighter and more durable (and also more hydrophobic) than the previous iteration.
All in all it was a great day, and the sun even came out for parts of it.
Its always super nice to try out a new board, and today was no exception!
By the way, we're demo-ing Korua Shapes boards at Comor Whistler, so stop on by if you'd like to demo one! It costs 60 bucks, and you gotta bring your own bindings.
Thanks for watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe!
Filmed February 10th 2026 on an Insta 360 X4 on Blackcomb Mountain.
