Ringing on the new 10 at St Mary's, Calne

Описание: I promised a video on the new ring of 10 so, here it is!!!

They sound miles better outside than inside! Moving the whole belfry down into the clock room and making the old belfry as a sound lantern, has much improved what the bells sound like!

Whilst being a bit on the quiet side outside, you can now hear each bell in detail, whilst them not being overpowering when stood at the foot of the tower!

They are going to make the hole through to the belfry from the sound lantern a bit bigger as it wasn't big enough even though its about 4m x 4m!

If you listen closely you can hear the tenor double clappering. I knew that the tenor double clappered but, I was surprised to be able to hear it that prominently outside. Hopefully it shall resolve in the next couple of years when the clappers and bells bed in.

Some of the acoustics have improved in the ringing chamber... The tenor still sings and echos from the new wooden shafted clapper and it double clappering, but there is a small bit of clapper knock on the back 4. Not a huge amount to make it unbearable, but just enough to make it sound pleasant.

New ropes where also put in earlier this week. These are new ropes all the way up to the belfry and, ringing the treble is like ringing an elastic band at the moment! Plenty of sally fluff also... My white tee shirt was blue after ringing the tenor!

Next job here is to sort out the noise in the ringing chamber... The front 5 are a bit quiet when all 10 are ringing, not to mention they could be louder overall!
