What do you do when you quote your speaking fee and they want to negotiate?

Unfortunately, not everyone has connections with Don Corleone. So if they ask you to decrease your speaking fee, and you want to negotiate, then you have to be very strategic with it.

Because if you’re not, you could end up losing the gig.

So what would you do if you quote “X amount,” and they say, “We only have XYZ.” …Half of the speaking fee you quoted. Has that ever happened to you?
