Hey guys! I have a fun tutorial for you today which will show you another way to start your work. I’ll be creating a square knot pattern with alternating half hitches in between the square knots. Cut 6 pieces of rope, each piece is 2 meters in length. Fold each piece in half and attach each to your dowel in groups of 2 using Lark’s Head knots. Tie a square knot underneath each Lark’s Head knot. There is about 2.5 inches of space in between each group of LHKs - you can space out your groups more or less than this to change the width of your design just keep in mind that spacing them out will require a bit more cord.

Use the 5th and 6th cords from the left and tie 7 alternating half hitches. Repeat with the next two cords on the left. Keep in mind that if you’ve decided to adjust this pattern to create it smaller or bigger you will also have to adjust the amount of alternating half hitches tied here. Tie a SK. Repeat on the right side of your work.

Tie another two sections of 7 alternating half hitches under the SKs. Tie one more SK.

You can leave your design as is and add layers in front of this design or you can tie double half hitch knots to bring the cords on the sides of your work to the middle and then add fringe to those cords.

To do this use the two cords on the left as your filler cords and tie 2 dhhks with the next two cords on the right. Tie 2 more dhhks with the next two cords on the right. Repeat on the right side of your work.

Use one of the filler cords on each side and tie one more dhhk to connect the two sides.
