This was written during FAWM. The prompt for this songwriting challenge was: "Looking back over a year". The year I chose was 1933, the year Hitler came to power. The parallels with a certain current leader of a formerly Democratic Country are chillingly similar.

I hope you're doing (G) well
Over here now, it's like a living (Am) hell
In (F) January their leader be(C)came the head of state
De(F)mocracy and fairness were (C) all thrown out the gate
They've (F) rounded up a number (C) of our dearest friends
You did (G) well to leave our country, here it's all so (Am) tense
