It arrived without warning. Suspended in the sky like an impossible wound in reality, the vast construct hovered with an unnatural stillness. No thrusters, no means of propulsion—just silent presence, as if it had always been there, watching. The air beneath it trembled, a whisper of static reverberating through the valley below. The spires of black stone, ancient and defiant, bore no signs of human touch, yet they seemed arranged with purpose, forming patterns too complex for the mind to grasp.

The first explorers had set foot here centuries ago. Their records spoke of unexplainable anomalies—time itself stretching and twisting, whispers in languages never spoken by human tongues. They built outposts, sent transmissions back to the colonies, but one by one, their signals fell silent. Expeditions vanished into the mist, their fates sealed in unrecorded horrors.

Now, only the structure remained. It was unclear if it had built the valley or if the valley had birthed it, but there was no denying the unshakable sense of purpose it radiated. The pulsating core at its center was neither warm nor cold, neither inviting nor repelling. It simply was—an eye staring into the abyss of the cosmos, waiting for something, someone, to acknowledge it.

Then, the sound began. A low, resonant hum, deep enough to rattle bones, soft enough to slip unnoticed into thought. It carried no message, no words—only the weight of its own presence. It was not calling. It was remembering.
