This video shows how I repair and reinforce my loose footstrap inserts on my foilboard. I would have use Q cell fillers and carbon fiber if I could find them easily.
In summary, I cut out the weak deck skin and reinforce the inserts with epoxy resin. Then I lay 3 layers of fiber mat with epoxy resin on top overlapping the surrounding original board deck.
Materials:
1. Epoxy resin (use slow curing resin)
2. Fiber mat
Detailed description:
Step 1: Remove the padding area
Step 2: Cut out the affected weak deck skin
Step 3: Remove and clean the inserts and cover the screw holes with blue tag.
Step 4: Mixed lots of epoxy resin then pour it inside the inserts placement about halfway up. Put the inserts in back and forth motion to make sure no air is trap underneath. Make sure the epoxy resin is squeezed out from the side. Leave it to harden, in my case about 12 hours.
Step 5: Once the insert is harden, lay about 2/3 layers of fiber mat on top overlapping the original deck. Make sure to remove any paint on the overlapping side. Again leave it to dry harden.
Step 6: Drill holes for the inserts and remove the blue tag.
Final step: Put back the straps and ready to go.
