The Devon Harvest Mouse Project

Sarah will be talking about why harvest mice are special, how to identify them and how and where to find their nests. She'll also cover the discoveries and methods used by the project, news about the brand new national project and explain ways in which you can get involved.

Sarah Butcher is the Project Officer for Devon's Harvest Mice and Devon Mammal Group's Harvest Mouse Project. Sarah has been the Harvest Mouse project officer for Devon Mammal Group for the last four years, running training sessions all over the county as well as spending lots of time out and about looking for nests. By the end of this talk, it will probably be far harder to walk past a tussock of grass without having a quick look for nests-so apologies in advance! As well as running the harvest mouse project two days a week, she has a UCert in biological recording, teaches and also run Devon Bat Group. Sarah is also on the steering group for the recently launched national harvest mouse survey.
