On 2 December 1988, Liverpool's Poet-in-Residence Benjamin Zephaniah peformed his poem Inna Liverpool for ITN's Lindsay Taylor. It formed part of Taylor's special report on social deprivation in the Liverpool 8 postcode area in Toxteth. At the time, Lord Anthony Gifford KC was completing an inquiry commissioned by the council into the local area's conditions, and particularly the issue of alleged racism and discrimination in the area.
