Eliminate Back Purge in Stainless Steel Pipe Welding

Описание: Pipe fabricator Dixie Mechanical eliminated back purge and cut welding time by more than 30% with a welding process change and the PipeWorx 400.

Dixie Mechanical’s previous welding process for stainless steel pipe used a TIG root pass that required a back purge. This process meant operators had to tape the ends of the pipe and insert hoses to purge the pipe with gas and remove the air from inside — costing time and argon gas. A switch to the PipeWorx 400 Welding System and the Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD®) process from Miller allowed Dixie to eliminate back purge and reduce welding time.
