This is a Chinese song, written by the prolific Zhang Hanhui, who wrote many songs for the Red Army. After the brazen Japanese invasion of Northeast China (Manchuria) and establishment of the Manchukuo slave colony, a large number of Northeastern refugees fled to the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border area, and joined the Red army. Zhang Hanhui, at the time a teacher, wrote this song in May of 1936.
Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the September 18th Incident (Mukden Incident), the first salvo of fascist aggression in World War II.
