Описание: The Blue Wizards, Alatar & Pallando, are two of the most mysterious characters in Tolkien's Middle-earth and in this video I cover everything we know about their story and Journey into the East (Rhûn). Many know the blue wizards as Alatar and Pallando, but Tolkien later invented 2 other names for each of the blue wizards! The blue wizards are without doubt the most mysterious members of the Istari, that consist of Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast as the other members of the Order. Tolkien changed their story quite a lot through the years, so both versions of his writing will be covered, as well at notes from the Valian Years featured in the Nature of Middle-Earth.
The Blue Wizards are also commonly known as Ithryn Luin, meaning Blue Wizards.
In the First version of Tolkien's writing Alatar & Pallando travel East with Saruman, and later fail to find Sauron in Rhûn. Ultimately they fail their task to stop Sauron, but in the other version of Tolkien's writing, they are successful and play vital roles in the Downfall of Sauron in both the Second Age and Third Age. Here the Blue Wizards are successful, and are called Morinehtar and Rómestámo. Despite them succeeding in the East, they did not return to Valinor with Gandalf. In the later writings, published in the Nature of Middle-Earth, the blue wizards are called Palacendo and Haimenar, and along with Melian, Gandalf, Radagast & Saruman the blue wizards defend the elves of Cuivienen. It is unknown if they go with the elves on the Great Journey.
