“The 47th Annual Dr. John I. Perlstein Memorial Lectureship: The Odyssey of Therapeutic Discovery:
Antiviral Drug Development Programs”
Target Audience
This activity is targeted toward all general pediatric physicians and pediatric subspecialists in the community.
Statement of Need
Pediatric grand rounds provide physicians a continuous update on emerging trends in caring for the pediatric patient,
including new scientific discoveries that provide the underpinning of current pediatric practice. This activity will inform
physicians about other issues involving professionalism, socioeconomic issues, and topics related to the ACMGE core
competencies.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
1. Identify different classes of antiviral drugs.
2. Discuss the appropriate initiation of different antiviral agents in clinical practice.
3. Evaluate the clinical effectiveness of antiviral therapies.
4. Review the development of antiviral resistance as a function of antiviral use..
