Welcome to the first-ever conference on Ismaili Studies. This panel, chaired by Ali Asani of Harvard University, provides some insight on understudied subjects in Central Asia. Hakim Elnazarov talks about the diversity of Muslim practice in the Gorno-Badakhshan region and their influences. Nourmamadcho Mourmamadchoev delves into an obscure Nizari schism and its impact in Central Asia. Daniel Bened delves into the life of Nāṣir-i Khusraw’s successor and the relationship between Pamiri and Badakhshani Ismailis and the various states of the area. Alice Hunsberger provides and overview of the past few decades of study of Nāṣir-i Khusraw’s writings.
