This video is about Units and Measurements class 11 physics. In this lecture I have discussed in detail some conventions for indicating units. While using SI Units these conventions should be kept in mind otherwise you will make some mistakes. First of all you have to know about what does a convention mean. Conventions are average of many measurements agreed between the scientists working with these values. There are many types of conventions used in Physics in various fields. Here we are going to study the conventions which are used while writing SI Units. Some of these conventions are
1. Fill name of a unit does not begin with a small letter.
2. The symbols of units are also small letters except for that units which are after a scientist name.
3. Prefix should be written before the unit and with no space between them.
4. Double prefixes are not allowed.
5. The combination of two units should be such that there must be space or dot between them.
6. It is not allowed to write abbrevation for units or their symbols.
7. When multiple of base unit is raised to a power, the power apply to the whole multiple.
8. Similarly we should solve a problem in only one type of system of units and the answer should be written in System International.
These points should be kept in mind while using SI Units.Some students take it very easy and do not focus on these points so they make mistakes while solving problems or mcqs with it. Although it is not so necessary according to examination point of view but these conventions are necessary to understand Physics.
