As a seller, Amazon has proven to be a very lucrative platform. It makes it very easy to reach customers with minimal effort or investment in advertising. Things went great until the day Amazon suspended my account. It nearly killed my business and getting back on track was very difficult.
Usually, when Amazon suspends an account, it is for two specific reasons. It can be for not following Seller Policies or sales performance falls below certain thresholds. Sales performance has not been an issue for me which means that my account was suspended for not following Seller Policies. The bad part is that Amazon does not state much regarding the particular rule that was violated. They offer very little information and it took a lot of detective work to find our specifically why my account was suspended.
The Amazon suspension appeal system is anything but ideal. I had contacted them to try to find out what happened and why I was suspended in order to reinstate my account, but they offered very little understanding. I must admit that I have never had any experience with such situations so maybe my approach was not ideal. There was not much information available in order for me to effectively challenge the suspension. The only positive aspect was that Amazon did respond within 48 hours, but my account remained suspended.
This whole deal got me looking through all of my listings to find what may be violating any Seller Policies. It is quite difficult to do so when your account is suspended but I managed to check all of them and nothing seemed odd. I also had to check some of the customer complaints that I saved to see if any of them might have filed a complaint to Amazon. I did not get many complaints, but it was something worth checking out Again, I could not find much that would indicate why Amazon decided to cut ties with me and my business.
As for the discussion with the Amazon staff on the appeal, not much progress was made. One issue is that the person that suspended my Amazon account is not the same as the one that answered my appeal. It was obvious that some information was missing and a decision in my favor could not be made. Maybe I was not convincing enough or I did not state my case in a proper manner but the feeling that I got was that the decision was final. It also seemed as if the person that responded to the appeal did not want to undo the decision of another colleague that suspended my Amazon account. In an ideal appeal system, the person that applied the punishment should be the same as the one that deals with the appeal. This way it would be much easier to find out what I did wrong and somehow state my case. I did not do anything wrong and I do not see a way to gain my access back. All I can do is to just move over the fact that Amazon suspended my most important account and start over from scratch.
