In vs.1-7, John’s purpose is to record the sign, where Jesus heals the man born blind, and by doing so Jesus put on display to aspects of God’s glory: the power and the personal application of His grace.

vs.1-5-A Question on Suffering

Principle #1: Suffering is, in general, a consequence of the Fall of mankind.

Principle #2: Suffering is a designed consequence of sin.

Principle #3: Suffering is not always the direct result of a person’s particular sin.

Principle #4: Suffering is ordained for the purpose of demonstrating God’s glory.

vs.6-7-A Demonstration of Divinity

Aspect #1: God’s work of grace through Jesus is immeasurably powerful.

Aspect #2: God’s work of grace through Jesus is unmistakably personal.
