The Vittorio Emanuele Gallery has always been a "must see" for tourists visiting Milan, and a beloved place of the heart for those born in Milan like me.
This magnificent Gallery was built between 1865 and 1872 in the neo-Renaissance style and certainly represents one of the most iconic symbols of Milan in the world as well as being one of the most extraordinary examples of iron architecture in Europe.
The Gallery connects Piazza del Duomo to Piazza della Scala, the famous Opera House.
It has a perfect cross plan formed by two perpendicular arches covered by a spectacular iron and glass vault where the four continents are depicted.
From the beginning, the Gallery was a privileged meeting point and walking place for the bourgeoisie of the time who stopped in chatting or having a drink in the famous beautiful cafés.
Since then, citizens affectionately call it "the drawing room of Milan".
Still today, the Gallery houses some of the most important and famous brands of the Italian fashion, together with historic restaurants and cafés.
All signs of shops and restaurants must be gold on a black background to give harmony.
In the center there is a mosaic representing a haraldic coat of arms of the Savoy Family with a bull.
It is said that stepping on the bull with the heel, turning on yourself with the eyes closed, brings good luck.
So, why not try?
Obviously during a visit of Milan you cannot miss the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and all its fantastic beauty.
Stop to admire the harmonius whole and the amazing beauty of each detail. You'll be enchanted.
Thanks for all your support my dear friends and hope you enjoy my video!!
Greetings from Milan!!
