In October 2024 AceZephyr and KumaTV shook the speedrun world of Final Fantasy VII by finding and creating the biggest and most difficult skip the original PlayStation version of the game has ever seen. Disc 1 Skip, Oceanfly, Cloudsurf, Rebirth Skip. It has many names and what it does is skipping almost the entirety of CD1(except Midgar) by going straight from Midgar to the City of the Ancients on the world map to fight Jenova LIFE. What followed now was months or testing, routing, practicing and grinding for speedrun times that were never believed to be possible.

From the first moment I did my best to help the community theorize and test this new route and we tried to improve it as much as we could. It all started very slow but the benefits were obvious. Money, experience, boss strategies, menus, everything had to be reworked and optimized multiple times to reach the point where we are now.

In the end I said I would grind for a run that is not just showcasing the new route and speedrun but a time that I can proudly call a "World Record", which would be sub 5:15. It took a few months now of optimizing, improving and challenging my luck and luck is what we needed for this run. This route features multiple very low(~8%) steals pretty far in the run so a lot of runs would just die to simply not being lucky enough.

But I prevailed and what happened now is a run that is not definitely not perfect but imo a solid milestone for FF7 any%. So I present to you, my 5:12:53 FF7 any% Speedruns!
