The video shows two input/output-linearizing controllers, which support the driver with automatic steering inputs. In the first part of the video the driver “steers” the reversing trailer by a turning knob and the trailer “pulls” the vehicle with it. This behavior is realized by an asymptotic curvature tracking of the reference signal generated by the knob. In the second part, an odometry based position estimate of the forward motion is captured and automatically stabilized during reversing.
In addition to the series-production components, the system requires a trailer angle sensor.
