He is at home. / Is he at home?

We are students. / Are we students?

They are married. / Are they married?

👉 In Lebanese Arabic, the words themselves don’t change between a statement and a question — it’s all about intonation. For a question, you raise your voice or stress the last word of the phrase (just like you’ll hear in the recording of this lesson).

💡 Why this method works:
In English, we rely on the present tense of the verb “to be” (I am, You are, etc.). In Lebanese Arabic, there is no direct verb for “to be” in the present — but the meaning is understood naturally. By practicing these structures as both statements and questions, learners gain fluency without needing to worry about extra grammar.
