Mama’s Geeky and her daughter Lorie continue their terrifying journey through the Conjuring Universe with The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) — and this one had us screaming nonstop! It’s our first time watching, and we were both shocked at just how intense and emotional this installment was. Based on the shocking true story, the film follows Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Insidious, Aquaman and Vera Farmiga, Bates Motel, The Departed) as they confront one of their most chilling cases yet: the trial of Arne Johnson (Ruairi O’Connor, The Spanish Princess), the first U.S. murder suspect to claim demonic possession as a defense. With the Warrens uncovering terrifying curses, satanic rituals, and demonic forces, this movie expands the Conjuring mythology into darker, more sinister territory. We jumped during the exorcism scenes, were horrified by the morgue sequence, and couldn’t look away during the heart-pounding showdown between Lorraine and the Occultist (Eugenie Bondurant, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2). Of course, the love and bond between Ed and Lorraine gave us the emotional anchor we’ve come to adore in this franchise, making the scares hit even harder. We are absolutely loving our Conjuring Universe marathon, leading up to The Conjuring: Last Rites, which we’ll be reacting to as soon as it comes to home release.
