In August 2023, Merseyrail's Class 777s entered full revenue service on the New Brighton and West Kirby lines after running temporarily on the West Kirby line during the Open Golf Championship.
However, since being introduced to the Wirral Line, the units have been plagued by technical problems and the comfort of the seating hasn't been popular with passengers. Despite they're issues, the 777s do have they're benefits such as Air Conditioning, Charging Points, Open Gangways and level boarding at stations to allow for better wheelchair access.
On the 23rd of August, I took a journey onboard 777018 from Hamilton Square to Birkenhead North via the loop around Liverpool. Personally, I think that the 777s aren't too bad but compared to the older Class 507s and 508s they feel incredibly inferior. The older stock I feel is a lot more comfortable and gives you a better journey experience.
But for what they are, the 777s I think will eventually serve the people of Merseyside quite well but only time will tell. The only TOC featured in this video is Merseyrail.
