Throughout 2024, the CNMA worked with The Roseland Music Society and St Gerrans and Porthscatho Old Cornwall Society on two new projects titled ‘Music [& Carols] Of The Roseland’, exploring the variety of music related to one of Cornwall’s most rural areas.

The Roseland Carol Project was a collaborative effort led by St Gerrans & Portscatho OCS, Cornish National Music Archive, and Roseland Music Society. The initiative aimed to rediscover, preserve, and revive traditional carols associated with the Roseland, ensuring their cultural legacy for future generations.

The carols in this service were compiled into the Carols of the Roseland book, with music transcribed by Peter Meanwell and in-depth commentaries by Dr Kate Neale. Edited by Terry Knight, the book has become a valuable resource for schools and community groups, with nearly 100 copies distributed free of charge.
