The beach of the Calanque du Mugel is a corner of paradise on the edge of clear turquoise water within the Calanques National Park.
It is rather two beaches, a large one and a small one, both made of pebbles and both overlooking the atypical bay of La Ciotat, its Bec de l'Aigle and its nearby Ile Verte.

From there, everything is possible: swimming, discovering the sea bed with a mask and a snorkel, and if the weather is hot, walking in the botanical park just above.

The Mugel park used to be a private property, and it has been rearranged and looked after by the city of la Ciotat. It made it be listed « remarkable garden ».
About 17 hectares in size, the park is naturally sheltered from the mistral and the sea spay by the impressive rock of the bec de l'aigle. As a result, there is a microclimate that allows a big variety of plants to grow. You will see bamboos, cactuses, aromatic plants, cork oaks, sweet chestnuts, and tropical plants like strelitzias. Further, you will have a nice viewpoint on the Ile verte and the Sec cove, under the sides of the bec de l’aigle. On the opposite side, the path going into the park can lead you to the big viewpoint located 82 meters above the sea.
