Thanksgiving tradition unites community and football

Описание: In Southeast Texas, Thanksgiving is synonymous with food, family, and football, a sentiment embraced wholeheartedly by the Indians football team. This year, the team continued its annual tradition of hosting a Thanksgiving Day practice, inviting the community to join in the festivities.

Coach and players expressed the significance of this tradition, which begins each year with donuts and coffee as the community gathers to watch the Indians prepare for their playoff game. "It's one of my favorite traditions of the year," said Coach Jeff Joseph. "Getting our community out here and getting them involved in this and them showing up like they do... it's just a testament to our community and what they are."

The community's respect for their football team remains unwavering, even on a major holiday. While the focus is on the upcoming game, the day is also about friends and family. "It's just awesome seeing all the community come out here and support us early in the morning and watch us practice and just be with our friends," said senior linebacker Blake Brashers. "I just love coming out here with my friends and my family. Just having a good time on Thanksgiving," said senior D-lineman Kooper Benoit.

With the arrival of Jeff Joseph, PN-G has established a new tradition of success, reaching the regional semifinals every season since 2022. As they prepare to face Midlothian Heritage in the third round of the playoffs, the team remains focused. "There are 16 teams left, and every week going to be quality opponents," said Coach Joseph. "They're a very, very solid football team. Dangerous on both sides of the ball."

Regardless of the opponent, the community's support is unwavering. "Them showing up on the road every week at home, whenever we got home games. It's unbelievable man," said Joseph. "We're so blessed to live and work in a community where the people support us like that here."

As PN-G prepares for game day, the community's presence in the stands is assured, just as it was during the Thanksgiving practice.
