How to Make Pizza in an Outdoor Woodfired Pizza Oven
Gather family and friends together for some outdoor fun where everyone can make their own pizzas using one of our backyard residential pizza ovens. The first thing to do is to take care of your mise en place (food prep), typically the day before.
Make your pizza dough from scratch and allow sufficient time for it to proof. For the best pizza dough, you want to let it proof in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours.
Be sure to check out our simple pizza dough recipe on our blog: https://www.fontanaforniusa.com/blogs...
Next, gather your favorite ingredients. Make sure to cook sausages, beef, chicken, and other meats ahead of time. Cured meats like ham and pepperoni are typically ready to go, so just slice them up to your desired thickness. Slice and dice up fresh vegetables and pineapple if you enjoy this fruit on your pizza.
You can make homemade pizza sauce if you want to or buy it from your local grocer. One small jar of pizza sauce is enough to make two to three large pizzas, depending on how much sauce you like on your pizza.
Once you have all your mise en place done, you are ready to make pizza in your outdoor pizza oven. To get started, load the wood into the woodfired pizza oven and light it.
While the oven is preheating, roll or stretch out the pizza dough. To keep the dough from sticking, sprinkle some flour or cornmeal onto your work surface.
Spread some sauce on the dough leaving about half an inch to an inch of dough uncovered. Next, add a small amount of cheese on the sauce, followed by your favorite toppings, and finished off with more cheese.
Brush the outside of the dough with some olive oil. Sprinkle on some parmesan, garlic powder, or other seasonings for a flavored crust.
Once the woodfired pizza oven has preheated, use a pizza peel to transfer the pizza into the oven. Rotate the pizza every 3 to 4 minutes for even baking until the cheese is melted and the crust is a nice golden brown around the outside and on the bottom.
Remove from the oven, slice, and enjoy!
