On completion of one year of Koshish A Balance, three Kashmiri women, from different generations and different professional backgrounds, share their experiences of being women, at home and at work. They try to answer the question which many books have raised and tried to answer. There is no one answer to that question of what women want because there is no one group called 'women'. Their identities are diverse as are their beliefs, yet, across many intersections of identity, there are many issues,challenges, and problems, that bother and hinder nearly all women. Mahroosh Banday, Dr Rehana Kausar, Shaista Amin Baqal, in this episode share with us what do they want as women and the answers may appear simple and reletable, yet the fact that women do not get what they want is telling! The society, culture, interpretations of religion, capitalism, parriarchy, governanace, and politics, ensure , many times unknowingly and unwittingly, that women are not regarded as equal human beings and their roles are not valued economically.
Empowering women is not enough unless a society is ready for empowered women. For that many systemic changes are required, right from the systems of marriage to set up at work place.
